Hits and Website Traffic can Increase Earnings

I see all the time this thing about how if someone visits your site, ("hits") can make you money when they visit.

How does this work? If someone just visits my site or I get "traffic", how does that make money for me?

Measuring Website Hits and Website Traffic

Hi Alix,

Great question! However, I think you might be confusing website hits and website traffic with the variety of ways there are to earn income from a website.

Although this Wikipedia explanation might make your eyes roll up inside your head it does clearly define the difference between "hits" and how traffic is measured to a website:

It sounds like what you are really interested in learning about is how you can start earning income from your website.

The first step is to create a rough outline (a preliminary business plan) on what revenue generating opportunities are a good fit for your site.

Check out the Earn It page on this site for the more common and easiest ways to get started making money on your website.

Another excellent reference is to watch the "Monetizing Your Website" video found in the SBI Action Guide (Web Site Building Instructions for Day 4) along with reviewing the free downloable "Webmaster's Business Course" on the FREEBIES page. (You will also find that "The Affiliate Master's Course is also very helpful if you plan on promoting products on your site!)

I'm sure that once you absorb the different ways you can monetize your website, you will find that by creating a consitent marketing strategy to increase traffic to your website that you will start to see some income for your efforts.
