What steps do I need to take in order to build a website for my small cake business?

I have a small cake business and I need a website to further my business. I do not know the steps to get about creating a website.

I have no idea how to do it at all.

You are absolutely right. Any business these days really needs a presence on the internet to build credibility and provide opportunities to market your business.

Your next step is to identify a web host so you can start building your website.

Consider what you want your domain name but don't buy it yet! You can usually save yourself that yearly expense. Many hosting companies include the price of the domain name in their monthly fee.

To begin researching hosting companies, check out the "Host It" page to read about the features you will need and printout the comparison chart.

For most small businesses you will want to consider choosing a hosting service that includes a blog so you can keep customers up to date on what's new with your business.

An automated newsletter is also important so that you can easily collect customer's email addresses in order to send out notifications of special deals, coupons, and such.

It's also nice to have a form function so that customers can place orders.

I would expect that you will need a host that allows for a lot of storage for graphic to showcase pictures of your beautiful cakes.
